Why Patients Choose Origen for Mood Disorder Treatment

Mood disorders require careful, ongoing management not a one-time prescription. Our approach centers on an accurate diagnosis and a long-term relationship built around your stability.

What Are Mood Disorders?

Mood disorders are a category of mental health conditions involving significant disturbances in a person’s emotional state. The most well-known is bipolar disorder, which is marked by shifts between depressive episodes and periods of mania or hypomania elevated energy, impulsivity and heightened mood.

Bipolar disorder often first appears before age 19, and symptoms can look different in adolescents (rapid mood swings or mixed episodes) compared to adults (more distinct periods of elevation and depression). Because bipolar disorder can resemble depression, especially during depressive episodes, an accurate diagnosis is essential using certain antidepressants alone can sometimes worsen symptoms if bipolar disorder isn’t correctly identified first.

With an accurate diagnosis and consistent, long-term treatment, most people with mood disorders are able to achieve meaningful stability.

They’ve helped me with my treater resistant depression to the extent that I’m able to leave my house and socialize with others. Very well informed and empathetic provider. Being an esketamine (spravato) center was a great bonus. Highly recommended psychiatric services.

Very unprofessional, long hold times. 3 weeks waiting for a response on a simple consult. When they promised to call within a week and didn't. i had to reach 3 weeks later and have them try so set an appointment (they forgot about me). And for that they took 2 extra days to even respond. This is ridiculous. Go somewhere else for actual professional care.

I've been with Nezira for a long time as my therapist/med manager and she's been amazing! With all of my different medication and mental health needs she always has a solution- and she always knows how to offer support. Even if one medication works she has a secondary option or even a third option to replace what if something doesn't work. She offers support in times of need as well, always making me feel seen and heard. I highly recommend; shes truly amazing!!

Nazira is an exceptional healthcare provider. I actually continued my care with her at her new office after seeing her at a different office previously. She always makes me feel heard and that she is truly listening to what I am saying. She is extremely flexible and offers telehealth appointments which is great as I am a nurse also and my schedule is busy. Her office staff are always welcoming and quick to respond when I have any questions or send patient portal messages. I highly recomend this office for your mental health needs..

What is the difference between Bipolar I and Bipolar II disorder?

Bipolar I involves full manic episodes that may include extreme highs and often depressive episodes. Bipolar II features less severe hypomanic episodes alongside depressive episodes, which are often the more disruptive part of the condition.

Diagnosis involves a comprehensive evaluation of mood history, episode patterns, and daily functioning over time. Because mood disorders can resemble depression or anxiety, an accurate history is essential to identify the right diagnosis.

Mood stabilizing medication is often central to treating bipolar spectrum disorders, though treatment plans are individualized and may also include therapy and lifestyle strategies to support long-term stability.

Many mood disorder evaluation and treatment services are covered by insurance, including ongoing medication management. Our team can help verify your specific benefits before your first appointment.

Yes. Many mood disorders, including bipolar disorder, first appear before age 19. Early evaluation and treatment can help improve long-term outcomes.

That distinction matters for treatment, since some antidepressants can worsen bipolar symptoms if used alone. A comprehensive evaluation can clarify the correct diagnosis and treatment approach.
